Laser Level Calibration - Key Things You Must Know

If you check green laser level reviews, you will know one thing that determines how well your laser level work is calibration. If you get your laser level calibration right and measure within range, you will surely get accurate results.

Some laser levels do come with ¼” accuracy, and some come with 1/8”, 1/16”, and 1/32”; faulty calibration can reduce these accuracies by as much as 60%. Inaccuracies can make you achieve inconsistent results, and you need to re-calibrate each time you want to perform a new operation.

How Do You Calibrate Your Green Laser Level

The first thing to do is place the laser level on a flat surface or a tripod within a confined space. Put it at 1” unit from one side and at least 20” from the opposite wall. Orient your laser level along the vial’s axis and make sure the axis points to both sides of the wall.

Check the screws on the laser level unit, and these should correspond to each vial, adjust these screws to ensure the unit is leveled along both axes. Both vials on the laser level must show some bubbles resting. At this point, you can turn on the laser level. Your green beam laser level should be able to beam an intense laser light.

Test and Confirm Your Calibration

Once the laser level is turned on, you must mark the points where the laser hits the near and far walls. Move your laser level at least 1” away from the far wall, then level your laser before adjusting its height so that it can make the mark you initially made on the far wall. Move to the near wall and then measure the difference between the initial and final laser line marks. If the difference is less or equal to the mentioned laser level accuracy, the device has been correctly calibrated.

If the measured difference is more significant than the manufacturer’s specified accuracy, you need to re-calibrate. You have to return and adjust the laser to the halfway between the two marks initially measured. This should be the actual level of the device. You may also remove the vial’s screw cap with the right tool, then adjust the vial until it becomes level. To this point, the laser level should be appropriately calibrated and ready to use.

Conclusion

The best possible way to achieve the ideal calibration is to follow the manufacturer’s manual or guide. The guide often comes with solutions to all calibration errors and what you can do when you require a different calibration for different purposes. It would be best to keep in mind that certain environmental situations can affect accuracy, even though they cannot affect calibration.

The brightness of your laser level, for instance, may reduce when you use it outdoors under excessive bright sunshine. In some cases, moisture and wind may cause little reflection of your laser level light projection. Remember that internal issues like lower battery power may also reduce your tool’s efficiency. Finally, remember that you can find the best green laser level on the Laser Level Hub website.
